We're getting close to leaving the Hospital
Submitted by Kimberly on Mon, 08/16/2010 - 5:29pmOlivia's Road To Recovery!
Submitted by Kimberly on Fri, 08/13/2010 - 12:30am
We're back at the hospital! Olivia had some great days filled with some outings and playing with her new friend Jenna. Unfortunately, she spiked a high temperature in the middle of the night and I had to bring her to the ER. She was admitted this morning after spending most the night in the ER. She has an infection and so far it isn't in her blood which is great.
At this point she will most likely be in the hospital for a few days while her cultures are still in progress waiting to find out the exact type of infection. They have her on a broad antibiotic and once they have the infection narrowed down they will treat that specific infection.

Hello Everyone!
Submitted by Kimberly on Tue, 08/03/2010 - 12:48pm
It's the Cook Family residing at the Ronald McDonald House. Many thanks to everyone for your prayers, love and support. Update: Olivia is doing great, she is starting to adjust better to all the new medications. She goes every other day and gets a blood draw and we go to appointments with the doctors the opposite days. Bruce and I are just getting a hang of all the new meds along with adding water to her feeding tube through out the day. She is required to take in 2.5 litters of fluids a day which is a challenge. Overall she is doing wonderful and you would never know if you saw her that she just received a new kidney a few weeks ago.

Another Day At Children's
Submitted by Kimberly on Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:09amWe're currently in the ICU and waiting for a room still. They're hoping to have her moved around 3:00 today. Olivia is doing great laying here watching cartoons. She had a rough night and morning but all is now good and she is back to sucking her thumb and visiting with Auntie Julie and couisin Kristina.
Lastnight Libby Lou (Olivia's BFF) came down with her Mom Lisa but since they haven't moved her out of ICU due to not having a room for her Libby cannot come and see her. It just sucks because Olivia keeps asking for her but I don't have the heart to tell her Libby is here but not able to see here.
I was able to enjoy the late hours of the night with Libby and Lisa. We had a slummber party at the Ronald McDonald house and I ended up having Libby Lou as my sleep buddy. I only wished Olivia was there with us as we were eating M&M's and giggling until the midnight hour.

What a wonderful day!
Submitted by Kimberly on Thu, 07/15/2010 - 11:43amHello Everyone!
It's the Cook Family coming to you live from Children's Hospital - ICU.
Olivia is doing amazing she just woke up for a minute and she asked for Libby, apple juice and fishie crackers. Amazing! At this point she is still heavely medicated to keep her comfortable so she is in and out of sleeping. Her new kidney is working great and her creatine level that was around 2.4 before is now already down to 1.7 which means her new kidney is working great. Every time a medical person comes in they're just smiling because she is doing amazing.
So a little story of one of the many cute things Olivia said was "can you take that thing off my thumb so I can suck it?" so the nurse took the tape off it and she said "thank you" popped her thumb in and closed her eyes for a rest. I'm not sure if we will ever get her to stop sucking her thumb!
